Rev-Trac SAP Change
Management Module

Overview

You'll notice an immediate difference.

Keep a strict control of all changes
Rev-Trac reveals on line the current location and status of all changes throughout your landscape – even after system restores, client copies and deletions. It is a part of SAP not an interface and uses existing SAP passwords.

Reduce errors and overwrites
Because Rev-Trac knows the location of all changed objects in your landscape, it can automatically prevent accidental overwrites of system changes by detecting object conflicts.

Communicate clearly with all users
Rev-Trac has a workflow engine that notifies designated approvers or any designated person as each change progresses. Everyone associated with the project has a transparent view of the progress of the entire project

Enforce your SAP Change Management policies
Rev-Trac is a layer of protection around your SAP system, preventing changes that are not consistent with your Change Management policies and procedures. Rev-Trac knows your approval and migration processes for each different type of issue. The only way a change can be made is by following the documented and agreed change process.

Document your processes
Rev-Trac provides an easy-to-read date and time stamped audit trail if things go wrong. Rev-Trac’s online approval sheet and familiar SAP screens shows the full approval history of every change and who was involved in each and every step.

Manage the backup documentation
Before, during and after every change there’s paperwork to be read and maintained. Rev-Trac can store the documentation or SOP’s for every issue in SAP tables, or it can manage links to external documents and help desk references. All backup documentation is stored with the change.

Empower your Basis team
For complete technical control of your landscape, your Basis team needs tools that are powerful, robust and easy to use. The Rev-Trac toolkit includes a wealth of analytic, chronological and comparative reports that reveal the complete evolution of your landscape.

Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 makes provision for the identification of changes to accounting systems and the reasons for such changes. Rev-Trac will keep a record of all structural changes, program changes and authorization profile changes with the reasons for those changes and who authorized them and why.

Sarbanes–Oxley Section 404(a) requires each annual report issued by a company under the Exchange Act to contain an internal control report that:

States management's responsibility for establishing and maintaining adequate internal control over financial reporting for the company;

Identifies the framework used by management to evaluate the effectiveness of this internal control;

Assesses the effectiveness of this internal control as of the end of the company's most recent fiscal year and States that its auditor issued an attestation report on management's assessment.

Sarbanes–Oxley Key Issues
Changes to SAP would normally follow a predefined business process and therefore comply with internal controls requirements. However, although an audit trail is fundamental to strong internal controls, an SAP system will not automatically provide an adequate audit trail for the changes made. Without that audit trail, neither the IT manager or the auditor can reliably make the certifications, statements and assessments that the law now demands.

Rev-Trac and Sarbanes-Oxley Solution
In an SAP environment, Rev-Trac provides a method to implement and enforce relevant business processes and create a transparent record of the process followed, changes made and keeps a comprehensive audit trail.

Any SAP configuration, customization or enhancement related to financial reporting is allocated a project or work type that ensures compliant processes are followed, records are kept and an audit trail created.

“Today when one of our business units has determined that particular modification or change is required:

The specification is attached to a Rev-Trac Request and signed off by the originator, assuring both sides that the correct effort has begun.

The technical team acknowledges receipt of this specification again by signing off and the work begins.

At each step in the process, testing is completed and an electronic signature is required that demonstrates both accuracy and acceptance of the work in process.”
